In my opinion, it needs a serious skill decrease or a buff to range, damage and some basic armor piercing to be really considered by anyone. Meanwhile, the bullet crossbow takes no skills to craft, is lighter, smaller, has much more range, has basically infinite and lighter ammo because it is rocks, does consistent damage of around 10 to 16 and has the magical ability to go through fat zombies reliably. The bolts even bounce on fat zombies, which is pretty ridiculous when pebbles from a bullet crossbow somehow go through.Įspecially depressing when the target is just a regular shady zombie, yet 3 bolts out of 10 still bounce off harmlessly. If you see this, then something went wrong. They have utterly pathetic damage for what is a bolt entering zombies flesh. Then I tend to switch of to longer range rifles with a crossbow backup. Range: 9 Armor-pierce: 0 Dispersion: 375 Recoil: 0 Reload time: 1200 Semi-automatic Mod Locations: 1 dampening 1 rail mount 1 sights mount 1 underbarrel mount 1 sling A moderately powerful all-wood hunting crossbow. Right now, because of a bug, all turrets are capped at range 32. I could probably pick them off with a composite crossbow if their range really is 12. Grind your fabrication up until you can make the normal crossbow (fab 3) from Bowyers Buddy, or take it high enough to make the composite crossbow (fab 5 & mech 3, and you'll need some bone) from the same book. The wiki says that a mounted M240 has 12 range, and I’d just like to make sure that applies to the turrets too. The range is 5, and that's when I'm wielding the spear. My defining example, featured in the screenshots, for this is using the repeating crossbow and with simple metal bolts. The makeshift crossbow is from a mod and I think it would make good fuel in a fire. This crossbow usefulness is terrible compared to other similar 'tech' weapons in game, for how much you could expect from it and for how much effort you put into getting it.
